Roy J. Bass

Roy was born on April 22,1936 in Ft. Worth, Texas to James Newton Bass and Lillie (Culwell ) Bass.

He finished school in the Ft. Worth school district and graduated from Polytechnic high school in 1954.

He was drafted into the Army in 1959 and had Basic Training at Ft. Chaffee ARK. Attended Ordinance School in Aberdeen, Maryland and received an MOS of 411.1 (Ammo storage specialist) and served on Okinawa as the head of an inventory team in charge of Storage, Inventory, Issuing and receiving all types of ammunition, grenades, and rockets.

After returning to the United States, he went back to work as a machinist at Double Seal Ring Co. in Ft. Worth where he worked when he was drafted.

On September 24,1960 he married Betty Ruth Tomlinson, who lived in Rowlett, TX. They lived in Ft. Worth until after the birth of their son Roy Lee on June 18,1961. In September of 1961, they moved to Rowlett,TX,

Roy got a job at Mustang Rebuilders in Garland. He worked there until 1965 when got a job at Texas Instruments where he worked until August 1991 when he was given an “Early Retirement” from TI.

He and Betty adopted a daughter Ruth in Nov. 1961 and now have a Grandson Clayton James Pruett who is now almost 8 years old. ( Born in November 1995).

He got a job with the Rowlett Police Dept. in Feb. 1997 where he worked as a Detention Officer and Property and Evidence officer until Sept. 1999 when he retired again. Since that time, he has been fully retired and still lives in Rowlett,TX.
